Windows 10 October 2018 Update: How the OS Will Free Up Disk Space When Needed
Windows 10 October 2018 Update will launch in approximately one month with lots of improvements, included a facelifted Storage Sense for smarter management of storage space.
Storage Sense is a feature that was originally released on Windows 10 Mobile but which was later released on PCs as well as part of Microsoft’s efforts to unify its platforms.
In the upcoming OS feature update, Storage Sense will get new features and will be able to automatically remove files that are also stored in the cloud, freeing up space to work properly.
While at first glance it may seem like a very complex task, the new Storage Sense is based on a previously-introduced feature that debuted with the April 2018 Update (version 1803).
OneDrive Files On-Demand is a modern version of OneDrive placeholders, which technically allows users to browse file stored in the cloud without actually downloading them. To make browsing seamless, Microsoft is using placeholders, which are basically short... (read more)
