Low-Cost Microsoft Surface Model Ready to Launch

Microsoft is expected to take the wraps off a low-cost Surface model later this year, and judging from some recent findings, the device might be just around the corner.

German site WinFuture has spotted an FCC filing of what appears to be a low-powered charger presumably used for a more affordable Surface model, indicating that Microsoft has already finalized the design and is ready to unveil the product sometime very soon.

The new Surface model could feature a 10-inch display and be specifically positioned as a rival to Apple’s cheaper iPads. It would be particularly aimed at schools and teachers, but consumers around the world will be allowed to purchase it as well.
