Google Drive Can Now Open Password-Protected Microsoft Office Documents

Google has released a new update for its Drive app on Android, bringing support for password-protected Microsoft Office documents.

Technically, with this update Google Drive can open and view Microsoft Office files, be they Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, or PowerPoint presentations, even if they are protected with a password. Users are prompted to enter the password when tapping the files, just like they’d normally do on a PC.

This feature comes in handy especially in the case of shared accounts where more users get access to cloud content but only some are allowed to view documents. Also, it can be used in schools where tighter control of access to Office files is necessary.

The version bringing support for password-protected Microsoft Office documents is 2.18.252.01 and it can be downloaded using the link in the last paragraph.
